  42.     That's two out of three:  1) Optimum number of windows, 2) larger
  43.     packets, and 3) control character unprefixing (for binary files on
  44.     8-bit datapaths).  Get the latest kermit software from Columbia U.,
  45.     read the docs carefully, and follow the discussions on
  46.     comp.protocols.kermit.misc.  Experiment with your settings to find
  47.     the optimums.  Optimums for packet size and unprefixed control
  48.     characters will not necessarily be the same for both directions.

  50.     The latest Kermit software for MS-DOS is (as I recall)
  51.     ftp://kermit.columbia.edu/kermit/archives/msvibm.zip.  If your site
  52.     doesn't have the latest "host" Kermit, you might investigate
  53.     getting the sources and building your own.
